Microsoft Is Hiking Xbox Series Console Prices Again. Here’s What You’ll Pay This Fall

Microsoft will again increase the prices of its Xbox series consoles in October. The latter increase occurs only five months after increasing prices due to prices.
An Xbox assistance page notes the increase in upcoming prices on October 3, as reported for the first time by Windows Central. Console costs will jump from $ 20 to $ 70, depending on the version.
The new prices are:
- Xbox S 512 GB series: $ 380 at $ 400
- Xbox S 1TB series: $ 430 at $ 450
- Xbox Series X Digital: $ 550 at $ 600
- Xbox X series: $ 600 at $ 650
- Xbox Series X 2TB Galaxy Black Special Edition: $ 730 at $ 800
To provide a little context on the price, the Xbox S 512 GB series was $ 300 at launch and the Xbox Series X was $ 500. In December 2023, the Xbox Series X went for $ 350.
Microsoft claims that price changes are “due to changes in the macroeconomic environment”. This probably refers to the prices established by President Donald Trump, who also caused a price increase for other video game materials from Nintendo and Sony.
“We are currently sailing on an incredibly dynamic environment,” said a company source in Windows Central. “We have evaluated the evolution of the macroeconomic environment and approached the applicable impacts.”
When asked for additional comments, a Microsoft spokesperson pointed CNET on the Xbox support page.
