Microsoft tightens screws on Windows 10 users running Office 365

Microsoft has made another adjustment to the restrictions it plans to place on Windows 10 customers who use Microsoft 365 applications (previously called Office 365), gradually encouraging them to Windows 11.
You probably know Microsoft abandons the management of Windows 10 users in October, he said several times for years. But it also deactivates the support for Microsoft 365 applications like Word and Excel, the same day: October 14, 2025. Applications like Word will always work and to guarantee a smooth transition that Microsoft will always support Microsoft 365 applications with safety updates for three years, until 2028.
What’s new? Microsoft said that “safety updates” do not include “functionalities updates” which include new features.
“The devices performing Microsoft 365 applications on Windows 10 will receive features updates until the 2608 version is published on the following dates: August 2026 for the current channel (including all versions for individuals and families)”, explains Microsoft.
“The devices will remain on version 2608, receiving only security updates until October 10, 2028,” added the company.
The company essentially warns that if you appreciate the new features introduced to Microsoft 365, such as new content creation tools fed in AI, you will want to go to Windows 11 or risk getting behind. Is it more carrot, however, or the stick?
