Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint’s Copilot Integration Is Getting a Wider Rollout

Microsoft has deployed Copilot Chat and its suite of AI agents to a wider audience, bringing the unified AI cat directly in the Microsoft 365 applications. This is a big problem because the complete Copilot chat panel was only for those who had a paid plan.
This update now puts Copilot Chat available to all Microsoft 365 users, in applications like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and OneNote without additional costs. The greatest thing here is that the Copilot cat is now aware of content, which means that it can understand the file you have opened and adapt its answers to what you are working on.
You can pull the chat panel in the side pane, right next to your document, there is no longer any copy and bonding or tilting between applications. It is a huge time saving and makes the workflow much more natural. If you want to reference another file, you don’t have to download it. Just type an “https://www.howtogeek.com/” and you can search for what you need. Copilot will even suggest the most relevant files, such as those you have used more recently, to facilitate the reference to your prompts.
In addition to this huge change, you can now download several images directly in the cat, which is a great way to collaborate visually. The input box has also been extended, so you have more room to display, modify and format longer prompts without having to get scrolling constantly. This is such a simple but important change for anyone who uses Copilot for more complex tasks. You will have quick access to features such as pages, image generation and agents.
Microsoft has made significant investments in the fundamental principles of Copilot. The responses are now 30% longer with a clearer structure and more quotes. It is a notable improvement, and apparently, it led users to give an 11% increase in “Thumbs-Up” notes.
Whenever Microsoft adds a new AI feature, I always jump directly so that you can deactivate it or not. Fortunately, you can deactivate these co -pilot integrations in each application.
Microsoft clearly indicated that these upgrades are not the end of the line. The company will continue to work to make Edge even faster. You can expect to see more performance improvements for specific features such as overview and printing extensions in the coming months.
For those who have a Microsoft 365 Premium co -pilot license, this does not only mean having to share exclusive features. These users obtain a version of Copilot Chat which can reason on all their work data, including personal and shared documents, emails, meetings and cats. They also get integrated access to advanced agents such as the researcher and the analyst, who can help explore ideas and analyze data.
This is added to priority access to features such as file download and image generation, as well as the latest technologies like GPT-5. These premium users can expect faster response times and more consistent availability, even during peak use periods.
