Microsoft’s Windows 10 escape hatch widens again, with a catch

Microsoft made a big problem because Windows 10 was based on support in October. However, it continues to offer Windows 10 users more and more options to stay on the platform.
The most recent addition is buried in a Microsoft assistance document, such as the case by Windows Central: registering for the ESU (ESU) program by Microsoft Windows 10 Constenger Security Updates (ESU) only reveals ten licenses to continue using Windows 10, and not just a machine.
Admittedly, all users will not have more than one PC. But the new extension allows a expanded family or family of Windows 10 users to continue using Windows 10 for another year. Otherwise, Windows 10 supports are exhausted in October.
The purchase of the ESU program will allow you to receive extended security updates until October 13, 2026, which bought you another period of grace to use Windows 10. And there are now three ways to do it:
- Absolutely for free, provided you use Windows backup to synchronize your PC settings;
- By paying $ 30 to Microsoft directly;
- Or by exchanging 1,000 Microsoft Rewards points.
The three options will appear if you choose to register for the ESU, an option that will be offered to you if your PC meets the requirements – namely currently up to date and registered with Windows 10 22h2 and signed in a Microsoft account. If you visit the Windows settings> Windows update Menu, you should see all the options, including a just prompt to automatically reach ESU if your PC already saves its settings.

As Windows Central notes, the requirement of the Microsoft account seems new and applies to the three ESU options. (Microsoft says that if you are connected to a local account, “you will be invited to connect to your Microsoft account.”) When Microsoft has both carrot and stick, it can apply each as they wish.
