Midland TAG makes meth/possible explosives arrest

At approximately 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 4, members of the Midland TAG executed a search warrant for a wanted subject in the 5000 block of West Loop 250 North.

MPD reported the subject was also believed to be in possession of a firearm and was located and apprehended. MPD also reported that during the execution of the search warrant, detectives located explosive/bomb components, precursor materials, and completed improvised explosives.

“Shannon McGhee (a 46-year-old female occupant of the apartment) was placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine),” MPD reported. “The Midland Police Department’s Explosive Disposal (EOD) Unit responded and surrounding apartments were evacuated. Midland Police Department EOD with assistance from Odessa Police Department EOD, Lubbock Police Department EOD and ATF safely removed the explosive materials without incident.”

Charges for possession of explosive materials are pending, MPD reported.
