Watch What Happens When Democrat Rep’s Talking Point Blows Up In Her Face

Oregon Democratic Rep. Janelle Bynum couldn’t explain Thursday why she voted against a clean continuing resolution (CR) that Democrats previously passed to keep the government open.
Bynum disputed that the Republicans’ funding bill was a clear CR, even though it did not include any policy changes or conditions. She told CSPAN’s “Washington Journal” that she was “not playing politics” and claimed that Republicans had added unspecified “additional elements” to the legislation.
“I don’t do politics. I We want a clean bill that focuses on the American people and ensures that children have a full belly and you know all about cleaning this, cleaning that. Americans don’t do it understand that. They know whether or not they are receiving their benefits. So put in a bill the table, make sure it is very pure and clean as they like to say, and it there’s not a lot of fluff in it. I’m not here to play, I just want to make sure the kids are fed.
The host then clarified that the Republicans had presented a clear CR. (RELATED: Republican Confronts Hakeem Jeffries Face-to-Face Over Shutdown, Heated Argument Ensues)

“I do not agree with your description and wish make sure we are very clear about what the Republicans are doing. Any bill that they presented, they always added additional elements. There has always been a poison pill. So I disagree with your characterization,” Bynum continued.
Bynum could not specify what “fluff” was put in the CR or how the funding bill is not clean.
Before the shutdown began on October 1, Democrats struggled to identify exactly what they didn’t like about the CR and promised to vote against it. Democratic Sens. Adam Schiff of California, Raphael Warnock of Georgia, Chris Van Hollen of Maryland and others were unable to cite a specific provision they opposed in discussions with the Daily Caller News Foundation.
Democrats argued that they voted to shut down the government since the CR did not include Biden-era subsidy expansions in the Affordable Care Act, which are set to expire. House Speaker Mike Johnson said Congress could debate extending those tax credits once they fund the government.
Democratic Sens. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania, Catherine Cortez Masto of Nevada and independent Sen. Angus King, who is caucusing with Democrats, voted to keep the government open. Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Paul voted in favor of the shutdown due to the lack of spending cuts.
Republican approval ratings have increased since the shutdown, including among independents, CNN senior reporter Harry Enten revealed Tuesday. The overall approval rating for Republicans jumped 2 points and 5 points for congressional Republicans.
