Is Amazon still delivering during the AWS outage?

As you may have heard, Amazon had some issues on Monday. In fact, that’s a huge understatement.
On Monday, Amazon Web Services (AWS), which provides the infrastructure for many of your favorite websites, apps and online services, experienced a major outage, causing ripple effects that brought down everything from Amazon Alexa to Zoom.
Since the AWS outage affected some Amazon services, you may be wondering if the outage extended to physical package deliveries. Likewise, as the outage continued on Monday, Prime members wondered: Is Amazon still delivering packages during the outage?
Mashable has reached out to Amazon with this question, and we will update this article if/when we hear back. So far, Amazon has not announced any problems with package deliveries.
Here’s what we know so far.

The AWS outage and Amazon Prime delivery
Amazon published a brief blog post on its company website about the AWS issues. Regarding Amazon.com, the company simply stated: “This issue also impacted Amazon.com and Amazon affiliates, as well as AWS customer service support operations. Please refer to the AWS Health dashboard for the latest information: https://health.aws.amazon.com/health/status“.
So while it’s reasonable to assume that some Amazon delivery services may have been affected, we don’t know to what extent.
All that remains is for us to tell personal anecdotes, which obviously should not be considered entirely representative data. Coincidentally, Mashable’s tech editor had scheduled an Amazon Prime package to ship today, and it arrived on time. Although the AWS outages may have caused delivery interruptions, packages are still being delivered to some people.

Again, a handful of tweets do not report widespread and pervasive delays or cancellations of Amazon deliveries. The situation is fluid and we are still waiting for answers.
