Tigers pitcher classily visited David Fry after scary face injury
It was a terrifying scene for David Fry on Tuesday night in Cleveland. While trying to bunt, the Cleveland Guardians’ designated hitter took a 99-mile-per-hour pitch from the Detroit Tigers’ Tarik Skubal right to the face. Considering how bad it looked initially, Fry’s not requiring any surgery for multiple broken bones in his face and nose feels like a miracle. Though, he’ll still need 6-8 weeks to recover.
Given his unfortunate role in a complete accident, Skubal naturally felt really bad about what happened to Fry. As such, the Tigers’ ace made it a point to visit Fry in the hospital while he was recovering, per MLive’s Evan Woodberry. The sweet catch? Guardians manager Stephen Vogt apparently gave Skubal a lift so he could make the visit.
Tarik Skubal said Guards manager Stephen Vogt gave him a lift to the hospital last night and they went together to check in on David Fry.

Dearest friends, sometimes, things are just bigger than baseball. For example, the health of a friendly competitor when you’re only playing a game. Kudos to Skubal for making this gesture when he didn’t have to.
