MO Community Shares the Love for Daughters of Officer Injured in the Line of Duty – RedState

Remembering our law enforcement in need and their families, especially at Christmas. That’s the topic of this week’s Feel-Good Friday.
Hats off to our deputy editor and Missouri generational editor, Susie Moore, for bringing this story to light.
One of the terrible consequences of these left-wing campaigns to harass and harm ICE agents and other law enforcement is that it is not only these men and women who suffer catastrophic injuries, but their families as well. In 2024, Ferguson police officer Travis “TJ” Roberts suffered a traumatic brain injury when a supposedly peaceful protest commemorating the 10th anniversary of the shooting of Michael Brown turned out to be less than peaceful. Several demonstrators decided to break the police barriers surrounding the police station and went on the attack. Roberts was pushed and injured while trying to quell the violence. It’s a story that’s becoming far too banal.
In the early hours of Saturday, August 10, 2024, our beloved brother, Travis “TJ” Brown, was seriously injured while serving in the Ferguson community. He is currently in critical condition, surrounded by his loved ones, as he courageously fights for his life. We remain hopeful and trust in the power of faith to help him through this difficult time.
Brown required multiple surgeries and was in intensive care for months. Fortunately, he overcame his injuries and surgeries and is currently undergoing rehabilitation. It’s been over a year and he still has a long way to go before he can return to active duty. This means that not only does his family lack a salary, but they have to take care of him in a way they never had to before. The Ferguson community hasn’t forgotten his service and wanted to find a way to help Brown, and especially his daughters, this holiday season.
From the Ferguson Police Department Facebook page:
Hello friends!!! Many of you have continued to pray for Officer TJ Brown and send him well wishes as he continues his recovery. Some specifically asked about her daughters and how you can help them during the holidays. So we decided to install a “TJ Tree” in the lobby of the Ferguson Police Department. The tree is decorated with items from the girls’ Christmas wish list. If you wish, you can stop by the police station, choose a decoration and return with the gift indicated or simply drop a gift card or greeting card in the box in the lobby. All of us at FPD and TJ’s family appreciate the love and support, and especially prayers, for TJ. He continues to recover and get stronger every day and we are grateful. You can drop off cards, gift cards, presents or simply come and give yourself a hug Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. The deadline is December 20, 2025.
What a wonderful testament not only to the officers and staff of the Ferguson Police Department, but also to the community members who truly care about the well-being of the officers and their families, and all they do to maintain safety and security in the city.
Brown’s daughters are 9 and 10 years old. Washington said they were handsome, caring and loved their father deeply.
“I can’t imagine the fear that went through them when their dad was hurt. Not knowing if they were going to have their dad. The fact that he’s still here and fighting every day, and recovering every day. They’re so resilient,” Washington said.
Jeremy Cordle was the first person to come get an ornament from the tree. Gift ideas range from shoes to jewelry to perfume. Cordle said it’s a way for the community to make the holiday season special for Brown’s girls.
“I know he’s not able to go shopping for his kids right now, so I thought this was an opportunity for me to do something for him,” Cordle said.

Ferguson PD said the community support was unmatched and extended beyond St. Louis County. The GoFundMe for Officer TJ Brown’s care is still active if you would like to contribute. To contribute to the TJ Tree for Brown’s Girls, visit the Ferguson Police Department Facebook page. They are accepting donations until Saturday, December 20.
