Mock funeral procession caught on camera targets GOP congressman’s private residence

First on Fox: More than two dozen demonstrators were captured on video last week, delivering a false coffin and flowers to the home of the Wisconsin of the Chairman’s Chairman’s Chamber Committee, Bryan Steil, R-Wis.

Unwanted visitors, dressed in black and bearing cow bells, mounted the private alley of the Congress member in what seemed to be an ease of a funeral procession, before dropping a cardboard coffin accessory with an epitaph at its gateway.

The former president of the Democratic Party of the County of Walworth, Ellen Holly, was identified in the video sequences published on social networks heading towards the front door of Steil, as well as several other voters of the previous demonstrations.

Before the funeral procession “Death of Democracy”, sponsored by the Southern Wisconsin Grassroots Network and Working Families Party, an organizer could be heard on a live video of Facebook saying: “We are not going to pass here because we are not going to invite the police to ask questions, and” what are you doing here, bla, bla. “We are just going to get out of the city.”

After the demonstration, demonstrators could be seen walking in the courtyard before Steil, giving up the sidewalk and commenting photos in front of the house.

A photo of the coffin and the epitaph at the front door was then published on Facebook by another involved group. A commentator asked for the reception address of the legislator.

This incident was reported to the American Capitol (USCP) police. It is not clear if one of the demonstrators faces criminal charges.

Congress offices experienced a 93.8% increase in threats reported for the USCP compared to last year.

Steil oversees the Chamber’s administration committee, which worked with leadership on both sides of the aisle to deal with the increased threats of Congress members and their staff.

Due to an increase in threats, the congress recently authorized an increase in the financing of members’ security, from $ 10,000 to $ 20,000 for life, and an increase in monitoring and maintenance allocation from $ 150 to $ 5,000 per month for the financial year 2025.
