Bronx driver strikes 2 people, 2 buildings in booze-fueled crash

An accused drunk driver crashed into two people and two buildings in a wild crash in the Bronx, police said Saturday.
Suspect Abner Rosa Blanco was driving a white Ford van west on East Tremont Avenue near Lafontaine Avenue outside Walter Gladwin Park in Morris Heights shortly before 11 p.m. Friday when he lost control of the wheel and went over the curb.
It struck an 18-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man before crashing into two stores between Monterey and Third Aves., witnesses told police.
Paramedics transported both victims to St. Barnabas Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Rosa Blanco was not injured.
Police quickly determined the 42-year-old suspect was drunk and charged him with driving while intoxicated.
Rosa Blanco lives in Bridgeport, Connecticut, about 50 miles from the crash site, according to police.
His arraignment in Bronx Criminal Court was pending Saturday.
