You don’t want to eat too much because it will put pressure on your lower esophageal sphincter, causing reflux. It is better to eat more small meals more frequently. You should also eat slowly and chew carefully.

Here are some other best practices:

  • Avoid eating large meals near bedtime
  • Manage your weight
  • Reduce your stress and anxiety
  • Avoid tobacco and alcohol to stimulate digestive health

By making a few modifications to your diet and your lifestyle, you can often control the GERD. If you have done everything you can and the symptoms continue (or empire), it may be time to talk to your doctor to see if the drugs are the best response or if there are other medical conditions that should be processed.
