Caoimhin Agyarko’s final elimination fight for the IBF light-middleweight world title against Brandon Adams in Las Vegas on Saturday has been canceled.

The 29-year-old was due to headline against California’s Adams, but confirmed on Instagram on Friday that the fight had been canceled with his opponent declared “medically unfit to fight”.

“I am absolutely heartbroken to announce that my fight tomorrow night is canceled. Unfortunately, my opponent passed out this morning, was rushed to the hospital and was declared medically unfit to fight,” Agyarko said.

“First, I hope Brandon Adams is okay and recovers quickly. Second, my dreams were shattered, I put my heart and soul into this camp/fight, I trained extremely hard, I was in the best shape of my life, 14 tough weeks away from my family, girlfriend and friends,” he continued.

“Thousands of dollars spent now, I don’t get the chance to make my American dream fight, I don’t get paid and I don’t know what happens next, but what I do know is that I will be world champion one day, my mind is bulletproof, I have had setbacks many times and I won’t let that stop me from chasing my dreams.

“I can only apologize to my fans who traveled to Vegas to see me perform. I can only apologize to my sponsors, I appreciate their support. I’m hurting right now but I will be back in the ring soon and I will be world champion.”
