Mamdani’s Chilling Inaugural Remarks Are a Harbinger of Trouble to Come – RedState

On Thursday, Zohran Mamdani was named mayor of New York.

As we reported, his “block party” seemed to be a harbinger of things to come and a symbol of his failed radical left thinking, with no toilets or food. It was the first day, and already his administration was a big failure. People are already discovering that he won’t be what they thought.

Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14) spoke before Mamdani. But she set the stage for sweeping remarks, highlighting some of his promises.

“New York City has chosen the ambitious pursuit of universal child care, affordable rent and housing, and clean and dignified public transportation for all,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “We chose this over the distractions of bigotry and the barbarity of extreme income inequality. »

I bet he either doesn’t deliver on his promises, or if he succeeds, people will discover all the problems with each of these ideas.

Then, Mamdani’s words caused a stir. He tore the mask off completely, if that wasn’t already clear. He made it clear that the “era of big government” was not over.

“We will replace the frigidity of wild individualism with the warmth of collectivism,” Mamdani said.

This is contrary to the very principles of this country. We are based on individual rights, not group rights or collectivism. The very purpose of our Constitution is to protect us from the excesses of governmental overreach. Brutal individualism made America.

The heat of collectivism – you mean the hell you have to live under this regime? Or the hot blood of the many deaths because of collectivist ideologies?

Many people have also pointed out that collectivism is pretty scary, in multiple senses of the word, from the oppressive Chinese communists to the frigid gulags of the Soviet Union.

The Mamdani era is set to begin with perhaps the most radical appointment yet. Are New Yorkers ready for this?

Mamdani wasn’t quite done yet, as he said he wasn’t going to apologize for what he believed.

“I was elected a democratic socialist and I will govern as a democratic socialist!” » he proclaimed.

“I will not abandon my principles for fear of being judged radical. Like the great senator from Vermont [Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), who was sitting in the audience listening and cheering] once said: “What is radical is a system that gives so much to so few people and deprives so many people of the basic necessities of life. »

Once in, Mamdani revoked all of former Mayor Eric Adams’ executive orders that had been signed after September 26, 2024 – the date of Adams’ indictment.

Mamdani’s words on Thursday are worrying words. New Yorkers were amply warned, but they chose to turn a blind eye to the story. It’s not going to be pretty.
