NASA Opens Simulated Mars Habitat to Media Ahead of Second Mission

While NASA is preparing for its second simulated Mars in March in March, the media are invited to visit the housing on the ground where the mission will take place on Friday August 22 at the Agency’s Johnson Space Center in Houston.
Scheduled to start in October, four volunteer crew members will enter the 3D print housing of the crew of the agency’s crew and performance exploration (chapea) to live and work for a year to inform Nasa preparations for human missions March.
The media event in person includes the opportunity to speak with experts in the field and to capture roll B and photos inside the habitat. The crew members will not be available for interviews because they will arrive at NASA Johnson on a later date.
International media wishing to assist must request an accreditation at the latest at 6 p.m. PA (5 p.m. CDT) on Monday, August 11. The media based in the United States have a deadline of 6 p.m. PM (5 p.m. CDT), Wednesday, August 20, to register.
To request accreditation, the media must contact NASA Johnson Newsroom at: 281-483-5111 or jsccommu@mail.nasa.gov. The space is limited. A copy of the NASA media accreditation policy is available online.
Once the crew members have launched their mission, they will carry out various activities, including simulated March, robotic operations, housing maintenance, medical technology tests, exercise and growth of cultures. The crew will also face environmental constraints such as the limitations of resources, isolation, communication delays and equipment failure, and cross these scenarios with the resources available inside the habitat.
