NASA’s next trip around the moon could have your name on it
As NASA is preparing for the artemis II test flight next year, you have the opportunity to add your name to the digital manifesto of the spacecraft. You can claim your “spot” and your pension next to the crew by adding your name here by January 21, 2026. You can also add your name and get a pass in Spanish.
The names will be placed on an SD card loaded aboard the Orion Spacecraft rocket and SLS (Space Launch System) before the launch scheduled for next April. In return, those who submit their name can download a boarding pass (available in English and Spanish) as a collection.
The names will move alongside three astronauts from NASA (Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover and Christina Koch) and the astronaut of the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) Jeremy Hansen.
“Artemis II is a key test flight in our efforts to bring humans back to the surface of the moon and rely on future missions on Mars, and it is also an opportunity to inspire people around the world and to give them the opportunity to follow when we open the way in deeper human exploration in space”, Lori Glaze, declared the associated administrator by Acting, in a declaration.
After the unrelated launch of Artemis I in November 2022 and the Splashdown succeeded 25.5 days later, the artemis II test flight of around 10 days should take off at the latest in April 2026. This will be the first crew flight as part of the NASA Artemis campaign.
According to NASA, their mission will be to ensure that all the systems of the space machine operate as designed with real crew members (not just “ Moonikins ” or an indicator of Snoopy gravity) in deep space. Among other tests, the crew will assess survival systems aboard Orion, which are necessary to generate breathable air, while eliminating carbon dioxide and water vapor produced when astronauts breathe, speak or exercise. The crew of four people will also test the systems during their exercise periods (when the metabolic rate of the crew is at its peak) and during sleep when it is the lowest.
