Hollywood Director Rob Reiner and Wife Found Dead at Home With Injuries Consistent With Knife Wounds – RedState

Legendary Hollywood director Rob Reiner and his wife Michele were found dead Sunday in their Brentwood, Los Angeles-area home, and both suffered what authorities believe were injuries consistent with stab wounds.
In addition to portraying the character Meathead on the long-running groundbreaking sitcom All in the Family in the 1970s alongside Carroll O’Connor and Jean Stapleton, Reiner went on to achieve numerous massive box office hits, starting with the hysterical 1984 mockumentary This Is Spinal Tap, then moving on to classics such as Stand by Me, The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally…, Misery and of course, A Few Good Men.
Although his politics are decidedly left-wing, I really enjoyed his work and last night (Saturday night) I was watching the sequel to Spinal Tap, and I thought he looked healthy and still had a deft comedic touch.
Details are scarce about what happened during this tragic event; here’s what we know, according to reports:
Rob Reiner, who went from starring in “All in the Family” to directing films including “This Is Spinal Tap,” “A Few Good Men” and “When Harry Met Sally…” was found dead Sunday afternoon in his Brentwood home alongside his wife Michele Singer. He was 78 years old.
The deaths, confirmed by TMZ and People, are being investigated as a homicide, according to the LAPD. The couple were reportedly stabbed to death.

We have heavily criticized Reiner for his left-wing political views in the past, but I don’t think this is the time or place to do so now.
My 3 favorite films are:
1. It’s a Wonderful Life
2. The Princess Bride
3. When Harry met SallyTo think that Reiner – whatever political differences I may have had with him – is suddenly gone and like that… well, that just doesn’t matter. https://t.co/bFD16PQaJs

Instead, we could remember that despite these opinions, he has made some of the greatest entertainment in Hollywood over the past few decades, with many people able to quote The Princess Bride at will.
Good morning. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.
This phrase alone has become legendary, along with many others.
“My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.”
One of cinema’s most satisfying awards came in The Princess Bride (1987). Mandy Patinkin said he put his true grief for his father into that moment, which is why it lands so powerfully.

When Harry Met Sally, on the other hand, is a masterpiece in depicting the complications of modern relationships. The film is responsible, thanks to Reiner and actress Meg Ryan, for bringing to life one of the most famous climatic scenes of all time (starring Billy Crystal in a restaurant).
A Few Good Men featured acting gems from Tom Cruise and Jack Nicholson; the phrase “You can’t handle the truth!” » still resonates today.
As of this writing, we simply do not know who could have inflicted the reported stabbings on the Reiners. Was it a relative, a crazy intruder, or something else? (Some reports indicate that his son was extremely troubled and may have been the culprit, but this has not been confirmed.) RedState will bring you these revelations when they happen, but in the meantime, whatever Rob Reiner thinks about politics, he certainly didn’t deserve this fate. May he and his wife rest in peace.
