Lily Alder wins the 44th Woodbridge Cross Country Classic

The two best returneurs of last year fought in three miles before Lily Alder of Timpview (UTAH) exceeded Chiara Dailey of the Jolla in the last sites to win the Bob Day Girls competition race on Saturday evening in the 44th Woodbridge Cross Classic in Great Park in Irvine.

Alder won by 1.6 seconds in 15:40 flat after ending third in 2024 in 15: 28.9 – Sept tenths of a second behind Dailey. Jaelyn Williams of Chula Vista Eastlake finished third in 15:52 and taking fourth individually in 15: 54.1 was the summer of Irvine Wilson.

“My trainer told me that I could go 15:39 and I know that I am much better that I have happened today,” said Wilson, a senior committed to Duke. “I found myself leading in the first two kilometers, but my strength is my kick, so retrospectively, it would have been smarter to stay behind.”

The former Wilson school, Jserra (she was transferred before her junior year) won the team title with 196 points.

Oak Park (203) won the boys ‘boys’ race. Canyon Country Canyon Senior Owen Souther finished second individually in 14: 41.8. Norwalk senior, Leo Diaz, won the Gold Varsity B race in 14: 50.3 and El Toro finished second in the team’s ranking with 228 points.

Joaquim Sandoval, a Warren junior, was the first in the race of boys Blue Varsity B in 14: 28.6. “I feel pretty good,” he said later.

Delaney Napierala, senior Christian of Oaks, directed a personal record of 17: 01.6 to survive Jenna Murray de Moorpark (17: 03.8) and win the Gold Varsity girls race in Girls. In the Gold Varsity B race, Westlake’s recruit, Sabina Cruz, has ahead of Tahoe-Truckee’s fall banks in 16: 50.7 while causing the Warriors to the team.
