Nets deal No. 36 pick to Suns for pair of future second-rounders

The Nets seem to have wrapped up their 2025 NBA Draft.

After making NBA history by drafting Egor Demin, Nolan Traoré, Drake Powell, Ben Saraf and Danny Wolf with five first-round picks on Wednesday, the Nets traded their No. 36 second-round pick to the Phoenix Suns for two future second-round selections, per ESPN’s Shams Charania.

Phoenix now holds picks Nos. 36, 52 and 59 in Thursday’s second round. It remains uncertain whether Brooklyn will trade back in.

Stanford’s Maxime Raynaud, Saint Joseph’s Rasheer Fleming, France’s Noah Penda, Arkansas’ Adou Thiero and Creighton’s Ryan Kalkbrenner were among ESPN’s best players available entering the second round.

After trading Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets last weekend for Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, the No. 10 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft and five second-round picks, the Suns selected Duke center Khaman Maluach with the No. 10 pick and dealt the No. 29 pick plus a 2029 first rounder to the Charlotte Hornets for center Mark Williams. The Hornets then used the No. 29 pick to select UConn guard Liam McNeeley.

The 2029 first-round pick traded to Charlotte is the least favorable of Cleveland’s, Utah’s or Minnesota’s selections and is reportedly top 5 protected. Charlotte also acquired guard Vasilije Micic, previously traded to Phoenix in February as part of the Jusuf Nurkic deal, and plans to exercise his $8.1 million team option, per ESPN’s Dave McMenamin.
