Electrons are tiny and constantly moving. Their behavior in a crystal lattice determines the key properties of materials: electrical conductivity, magnetism or new quantum effects. Anyone who wants to develop the information technologies of tomorrow needs to understand what electrons do. At the Forschungszentrum Jülich, a new tool is now available for this purpose: a slim microscope entirely developed and built on site. “Internationally, we are currently seeing increasing interest in this method,” explains Dr. Christian Tusche from Forschungszentrum Jülich.
