New Plant-Eating Dinosaur Species Unveiled
Paleontologists have announced the discovery of a new genus and species of early Eusauropods of the Jurassic period of China.

Appointed Huashanosaurus QiniThe new species of dinosaur should have lasted approximately 12 m (39 feet) long.
He lived in what is now the Autonomous Region of Chinese Guangxi at the start at the Middle Jurassic, 200 to 162 million years ago.
“Jurassic Sauropods are well represented in China, in particular in Yunnan, Sichuan, Chongqing and Xinjiang, with only a few known localities in Gansu, Ningxia, Anhui, Tibet and Guizhou,” said Dr. Jinyou Mo of the Natural History Museum of Guangxi and his colleagues.
“In Guangxi, the record of the jurassic of dinosaurs fossils is poor, compared to the record of the fossil of the dinosaurs of the Cretaceous.”
Two specimens of Huashanosaurus Qini – including a partial skeleton – have been collected at the Huqiu career of the Wangmen formation near the village of Dongshi in Guangxi, in southern China.
Certain scales of bone fish and teeth (perhaps Lepidotes Sp.), Several incomplete Plesiosaurian teeth and several bones of fragmentary dinosaurs were found on the site.
“The geological age of Wangmen’s formation is under debate,” said paleontologists.
“It was originally considered an early Jurassic, but paleontological evidence was lacking.”

According to the team, Huashanosaurus Qini is a basal member of Eusauropoda, a group derived from dinosaurs of Sauropod.
“This is the second Eusauropod in Guangxi,” said the researchers.
