New Study Says Highest Number of Antisemitic Attacks Around the World Occurred in 2025 – RedState

The horrific attack carried out by the terrorist group Hamas on October 7, 2023 against Israel was the deadliest attack against Jews since the Holocaust. Since then, anti-Semitic behavior has clearly increased around the world. It’s almost as if this attack allows those with anti-Semitic beliefs to make their beliefs public. Now a new study says these outdoor displays indicate a very worrying trend.

On Monday, an annual study by Tel Aviv University showed that the highest number of anti-Semitic attacks in 30 years took place in 2025, with 20 people killed. The increase in anti-Semitic attacks began after the October 2023 attack and the subsequent Israeli war in Gaza. These figures include the attack on the Hanukkah celebration at Bondi Beach in Australia last December. The Center for the Study of Contemporary European Jewry at Tel Aviv University and the Irwin Cotler Institute for Democracy, Human Rights and Justice publish the study annually, coinciding with Holocaust Remembrance Day in Israel.

Uriya Shavit, editor-in-chief of the study, rightly states that “the data raises concern that a high level of anti-Semitic incidents is becoming a normalized reality.” In addition to the attack in Australia, other attacks took place in Washington, DC and Colorado, and in October 2025 in Britain, two people were killed on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar, at a synagogue in Manchester.

The detailed report traces all attacks which run the gamut from verbal threats and harassment on social media to vandalism and physical attacks. It also showed how some attacks were carried out and resulted in physical injuries such as beatings and stone throwing. The study results showed that 2025 was the deadliest year for attacks against Jews since 1994, when a Jewish community center was bombed in Argentina in 1994.

Shavit also said regarding the increase in anti-Semitic attacks:

“The peak in the number of incidents was recorded immediately after the attack on October 7, after which we began to see a downward trend – but unfortunately this trend did not continue into 2025.”

In 2025, there were 3,700 anti-Semitic incidents in the United Kingdom, compared to 3,556 in 2024, and in Canada, 6,800 incidents in 2025, compared to 6,219 in 2024. In the United States, after October 7, it was perhaps unsurprising that the epicenters of anti-Semitism seemed to be on college campuses and universities. As protest encampments sprung up at places like Columbia University, officials appeared to cave in to anti-Israel and pro-Palestinian demonstrators, and an overwhelming number of professors promoted and amplified anti-Semitism on their respective campuses. Another part of the problem: Holocaust education is not uniform in public schools. As of January 2025, only 29 states required Holocaust education.

An oft-repeated promise in the aftermath of the Holocaust was “Never Again.” Today, sadly, Uriya Shavit must express his grim concern that anti-Semitism is becoming “a normalized reality.”
