Newark airport unexpectedly shut down

All flights outside Newark airport seemed to be canceled or extremely delayed on Sunday, effectively closing the airport for hours.
The delays were caused by thunderstorms, according to the Federal Aviation Administration, but the day was sunny with a clear sky in the evening.
Blocked travelers went to social networks to complain about the unexpected delay, with great blame for President Trump in the region to attend the final match of FIFA World Cub at East Rutherford, NJ
The president’s official schedule registered him as assistant at the World Cup from 2:30 p.m. to 7:25 p.m. when he had to leave and return to the White House.
Flights to Newark Airport began to be affected around 3:15 p.m., with delays that should last until the early morning, according to the FAA.
