Newsweek ranks Mississippi’s best colleges for women. One is in Top 15

Choosing the right college or university is a very important decision. Making a smart financial choice and finding a good degree program will create the starting point for your career and affect the rest of your life.
For women, this also means seeking out institutions that offer leadership opportunities, fair salary practices, campus safety, and meaningful pathways to success.
There are some great options in the United States, according to a new analysis. To find the best colleges for women, Newsweek and Gender Fair have teamed up to release their first list.
The Best American Colleges for Women 2026 includes over 751 colleges. The rankings evaluate four categories that were scored using federal data: leadership; Salary and policies; Security; and Opportunity. The goal was to add a new dimension of information that complements existing university rankings.
The results also included information on state-level reproductive health policies from the Center for Reproductive Rights so students could think about how local laws impact their access to health care, the report said.
There are 5 Mississippi colleges and universities ranked on the list, and one of them cracked the top 15. Six more fell below 751st place.
