The Chicago Bears are heading into the second year of Caleb Williams, and the quarterback is also facing his second offense in those years under new head coach Ben Johnson. Despite there being reports of the offense stuttering during training camp, there is a lot of excitement regarding this team’s offense.

The Bears have DJ Moore, Rome Odunze, D’Andre Swift, Cole Kmet, and brought in some heavy hitters on the offensive line like Joe Thuney. The idea is to surround Williams with the right kind of talent so that he can flourish.
Williams put together a rookie season that included 3,541 yards, 20 touchdowns, and six interceptions. It was a very solid first year, and he is set to build on that.

According to NFL fantasy and betting expert Tyler Fulghum, Williams will not only be successful in 2025, but he will be the first-ever Bears quarterback to throw for over 4,000 yards.
“This team is built to throw the football. You got DJ Moore, you got Rome Odunze, you drafted Luther Burden and Colston Loveland, you fortified the offensive line, and then brought in Ben Johnson … I think for the first time in Bears history, we see a 4000-yard passer,” Fulghum stated.
Fulghum makes mention of Williams’ skills in college, where he was named the Hesiman Trophy winner in 2022. To the young passer’s credit, he already threw for over 3,500 yards in his rookie season, meaning he can certainly surpass 4,000 yards in 2025.
Williams and the offense will need to click, and the world might be able to see that chemistry soon. The second-year signal caller was not showcased in the first preseason game, but he may make an appearance for a series when the Bears take on the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, Aug. 17.
Should Williams surpass the 4,000 yards mark, he will become the first Bears quarterback to do so, which is shocking considering how long the team has been in the NFL.
Erik Kramer in 1995 secured 3,838 yards, while Jay Cutler nearly matched that in 2014 with 3,812. The next closest was Cutler in third with 3,666 in 2009 and also fourth in 2015 with 3,659.
Williams already leapt up the Bears’ history books in 2024 with 3,541, which is good for sixth all-time. He has all the right tools to surpass 4,000 yards, but it will be up to him and the offense to take the next step when the regular season rolls around.
