Almost 180 tons of Oscar Meyer turkey bacon recalled because of Listeria contamination

Kraft Heinz Foods Company of Newberry, SC, recalls 367,812 pounds of completely cooked turkey bacon, because the sampling has shown that it was contaminated by Listeria Monocytogenes, announced today the food security and food inspection service of the USDA (FSIS).

The bacon of turkey was produced from April 24, 2025, on June 11, 2025. It is feared that consumers still have the product in their homes, because some of them do not express before September.

  • 12 oz. Packages packaged under vacuum of “Oscar Mayer Turkey Bacon Original” and Universal Product Code (UPC) “071871548601” Printed on the packaging under the barcode “, use by” dates going “July 18 2025” at “August 02, 2025” and lot code “RS40”.
  • 36 oz. Packages containing three 12 oz. Packages packaged under vacuum of “Oscar Mayer Turkey Bacon Original” and Universal Product Code (UPC) “071871548748” printed on the packaging under the barcode, “Use by” dates going “July 23 2025” to “04 Sept 2025” and codes de lote
  • 48-Oz. Packages containing four 12 oz. Vacuum packages of “Oscar Mayer Turkey Bacon Original” and UPC “071871548793” Printed on the packaging under the barcode and the dates “Use by” going “July 18 2025” to “04 Sept. 2025” and Lot Codes.

Products subject to recall have the USDA inspection mark on the front of the label. These items were sent to national stores and some were exported to the British and Hong Kong Virgin Islands.

The problem was discovered after the laboratory tests of the establishment indicated that the product can be contaminated by LM.

There was no confirmed report of adverse reactions due to the consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about a disease must contact a health care provider.

Consumers who bought these products are invited not to consume them. These products must be thrown or returned to the place of purchase.

On Listeria infections
Foods contaminated by Listeria Monocytogenes may not seem spoiled but can always cause serious and sometimes fatal infections. Anyone who has eaten one of the turned -called Turnard baconians and has developed listeria infection symptoms should ask for medical treatment and talk to their doctors of possible exposure to Listeria.

In addition, anyone who has eaten one of the recalled products should be monitored for symptoms in the coming weeks, as it can take up to 70 days after exposure to Listeria for listeriosis symptoms.

Symptoms of Listeria infection may include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle pain, severe headache and stiff neck. Specific laboratory tests are necessary to diagnose Listeria infections, which can imitate other diseases.

Pregnant women, the elderly, young children and people such as cancer patients who weaken immune systems are particularly at risk of serious illnesses, fatal infections, other complications and death. Although infected pregnant women can only feel light and pseudo-grapple symptoms, their infections can lead to premature delivery, newborns or even mortinity infection.
