We didn’t know it when it happened in March, but the Arizona Cardinals added a top-100 player in free agency. Outside linebacker Josh Sweat, who signed a four-year $76.4 million contract with the Cardinals after seven seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, was revealed as the No. 95 player in the “NFL Top 100” for 2025. It was his first career appearance in the top 100.

It was a bunch of Eagles teammates who were featured in the video to reveal his ranking. Cornerback Cooper DeJean called Sweat simply, “dominant.”
Tackle Lane Johnson said that Sweat is “tremendous at setting the run,” something that Cardinals defensive coordinator Nick Rallis raved about earlier this offseason.
“He’s got a consistent way of creating disruptions,” he said, and Eagles receiver Will Shipley noted that teams have to double-team him or use a running back to chip him or he gets to the quarterback.
He had eight sacks last season, which led the Super Bowl champion Eagles, and he had 2.5 sacks in the Super Bowl. And a play in which he didn’t get the sack but hit Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes caused an interception.
Sweat’s Eagles teammates raved about him.
What is even better about this is the fact that the NFL players cast their votes for the top players long before Sweat had his dominant Super Bowl performance. The voting was in the last month of the regular season, which shows the respect his NFL peers have for him.
Knowing that, it makes his addition to the Cardinals that much more exciting.
