Trump alleges “triple sabotage” at U.N. after escalator and teleprompter freeze up, as U.N. blames Trump’s team

President Trump accused the United Nations of “sabotage” and demanded an investigation on Wednesday after a escalator and a televimmer be poorly worked during his visit to the headquarters of the United Nations – although the UN said that Mr. Trump’s delegation may have triggered the closure of the Escalat security.
Shortly after Mr. Trump and First Lady Melania Trump entered the UN headquarters in New York on Tuesday to contact the world leaders during the session of the general assembly of this year, they went up on a escalator. But the machine stops almost immediately, forcing the two trumps to start mounting the stairs for themselves, videos of its arrival show.
Later, when Mr. Trump began his speech at the General Assembly, he noticed that his telepactor did not work. “I can only say that whoever exploits this telepromote is in great difficulty,” said the president, drawing laughter from the public.
The president spoke of the two misadventures later in his speech, supervising them as metaphors for what he considers the incompetence of the United Nations – which he has accused of offering a little more than “empty words”.
“Everything I got from the United Nations was an escalator who, above, stopped in the middle. If the first lady was not in great shape, she would have fallen,” said the president. “These are the two things I obtained from the United Nations: a bad escalator and a bad telepair.”
In a social post of truth a day later, Mr. Trump said that incidents were not a coincidence. He also leveled a third allegation according to which “the sound was completely extinguished” during his speech.
“A real shame took place at the United Nations yesterday – not one, not two, but three very sinister events!” The president wrote. “It was not a coincidence, it was a triple sabotage at the UN. They should be ashamed of themselves.”

The white house press secretary Karoline Leavitt launched a similar explanation on Tuesday, writing in a post on X: “If someone at the UN intentionally stopped the escalator as president and the first lady mounted, they had to be dismissed and investigated immediately.”
Leavitt shared a screenshot of a Times of London article which said that UN workers had heard. There is no evidence that the UN staff followed on these jokes.
The press secretary later told Fox News that the secret services examined the question, telling the host Jesse Watters that “it does not look like a coincidence for me”. A federal source of law enforcement confirmed to CBS News that the secret services examine the question of the escalator.
However, a UN spokesperson said on Tuesday that the escalator may have suddenly arrested because of a videographer from the American delegation who can be seen walking in front of the president and the first lady of the escalator, apparently to film their arrival.
“A later survey, including a reading of the central processing unit of the machine, said that the escalator had stopped after an integrated safety mechanism in the comb step was triggered at the top of the escalator. Untónio Guterres UN Secretary General, said in a statement.
In addition, a UN official told CBS News that the White House exploited Mr. Trump’s telepromote when he misunderstood during his speech.
CBS News contacted the White House to comment on the UN conclusions.
Mr. Trump’s speech came while his second administration distance from the United Nations, withdrawing from the United States from agencies such as the Human Rights Council and the World Health Organization. The administration has also reduced its financial contributions to the UN and criticized its approach in Israel.
“The UN has enormous potential,” said the president in his speech, “but he doesn’t even get closer to this potential.”
