Independent journalist Nick Shirley says he has now become a target of the political left for highlighting the fraud that took place in Minnesota.

“I think something like that would just be ‘this serious fraud.’ But no, now people are suing me for reporting fraud. And who are all these people? They’re leftists,” Shirley said in a preview of Outkick’s first “The Riley Gaines Show” podcast Wednesday.

“And it’s just a moment where they really could have said, ‘Okay, guys, let’s come together. Let’s tell everyone, ‘Fraud is bad. Let’s crack down on fraud.’ Instead, they go after the person exposing the fraud,” Shirley told Gaines.

Since going viral with his reporting on fraud in Minnesota, Shirley said he has received tips about suspected fraud across the country, particularly regarding child care.

“People have given me a mandate to expose more of the fraud, so I’m going to reveal more,” Shirley told Gaines.

The full interview will be published on Wednesday. “The Riley Gaines Show” will be available on all major podcast platforms. Watch more content from “The Riley Gaines Show” on Gaines’ YouTube page.

Shirley shook up the news cycle last month with a 42-minute video investigating Minnesota child care centers that appeared to be doing nothing despite millions of dollars in government funding. The video, which has been viewed more than 138 million times on X alone, sparked an investigation by federal authorities and led the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to freeze all child care payments in Minnesota.

However, Shirley has since become a target of mainstream news organizations like CBS News and CNN, casting doubt on her journalism.
