Nicki Minaj Thanked Trump for Condemning Christian Genocide in Nigeria. Now She Has Backlash. – RedState

RedState just shared recent news on Saturday, with President Trump issuing an ultimatum to the Nigerian government to protect Christians, or the United States will end foreign aid and/or deal with terrorists itself through military action.
The president wrote:
If the Nigerian government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the United States will immediately cease all aid and assistance to Nigeria and may very well go to that now disgraced country, “with guns,” to completely eliminate the Islamist terrorists who are committing these horrific atrocities. I hereby order our War Department to prepare for possible action. If we attack, it will be swift, vicious and gentle, just like the terrorist thugs attack our Christian Christians! ATTENTION: THE NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT BETTER ACT QUICKLY!

Whenever we start to see signs that culture is moving politics in a conservative direction, it’s worth noting — even if that movement may seem to come from an unexpected messenger. This is one of those times, and it is relevant to the horrors being reported in Nigeria.
Nicki Minaj, one of the best-selling rap artists of the last decade and a devout follower of Christ, took to her X account early Saturday morning to thank President Trump for standing up and pledging to stop Christians from being persecuted and massacred in a genocide in Nigeria.
The president made the announcement on Friday via his Truth Social account, as my colleague streiff wrote:
President Trump announced Friday that he is designating Nigeria as a “country of particular concern” due to the ongoing massacre of Christians and the government’s reluctance to take action to prevent it. Using Truth Social for this announcement, President Trump condemned the atrocities.
Trump wrote:
“Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria. Thousands of Christians are being killed. Radical Islamists are responsible for this mass massacre. I hereby designate Nigeria a “COUNTRY OF PARTICULAR CONCERN” – but that is the least I can do. When Christians, or any other such group, are massacred as is the case in Nigeria (3,100 compared to 4,476 worldwide), something must be done! I demand Congressman Riley Moore, Chairman Tom Cole, and the House Appropriations Committee, to immediately look into this matter and report to me. The United States cannot stand idly by while such atrocities occur in Nigeria and many other countries.

Here’s what the singer wrote, in an article quoting Pres. Trump’s message on Friday:
As I read this, I felt a deep sense of gratitude. We live in a country where we can freely worship God.
No group should ever be persecuted for practicing their religion. We don’t need to share the same beliefs to respect each other.

If you can’t see the full message, it reads:
As I read this, I felt a deep sense of gratitude. We live in a country where we can freely worship God.
No group should ever be persecuted for practicing their religion. We don’t need to share the same beliefs to respect each other.
Many countries around the world are affected by this horror and it is dangerous to pretend not to notice.
Thank you to the President and his team for taking this seriously.
May God bless every persecuted Christian.
Let us not forget to lift them up in prayer.
In response, U.S. Ambassador to the UN Mike Waltz offered Minaj an open invitation to visit the U.S. Embassy in New York, while acknowledging how vital someone with her influence in the culture is to raising awareness of the genocide:
Ambassador Mike Waltz invites Nicki Minaj to the U.S. Embassy and thanks her for using her platform to raise awareness about what’s happening to Christians.❤️✝️@NICKIMINAJ @michaelgwaltz

“If you ever find yourself in New York, come to the United States Embassy to the United Nations. I would like to speak with you in more depth about what our administration is doing to protect the freedoms of Christians around the world.”
But the reaction from his fans has been far from charitable, which is an understatement.
They showed their displeasure that she… spoke in favor of Trump.
“Nicki Minaj has really managed to disappoint me over and over again over the last year. Sometimes her choices and the way she acts are just insane. Supporting Donald Trump is crazy,” one fan tweeted.
“Millions of families can’t feed their families today because of this government shutdown and Nicki Minaj using her platform to praise Donald Trump. What weird bullshit!” another fan wrote.
As Christians, we should use this as an example to seize opportunities where we find them and inspire ourselves to continue to stay true to our beliefs and not let criticism shake us when it counts.
As Streiff added in her article about Trump’s statement on Friday:
The line from President Trump’s message that caught my attention was “We are ready, willing, and able to save our great Christian population throughout the world!” » I don’t know what “ready” and “willing” look like.
Now we have a much better idea of what these words mean. Since this is a rapidly evolving story, RedState will provide updates as events warrant.
Editor’s note: The Schumer ruling is here. Rather than putting the American people first, Chuck Schumer and radical Democrats forced a government shutdown on health care for illegal immigrants. They own that.
