No US Troops in Gaza or Israel – RedState

I have been and remain a little skeptical about the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas. Hamas, if experience is any indication, will take advantage of any interval of peace to rearm, recruit, retrain and plan its next atrocity. I could be wrong; Predictions are notoriously difficult to make, especially about the future, and this could lead to the lasting peace that most civilized countries hope for.
In the meantime, it would seem prudent to keep US armed forces away from the immediate area, that is, Israel and Gaza. On Sunday’s “Meet the Press,” Vice President JD Vance appeared with host Kristen Welker and gave some assurances that there would be no U.S. forces on the ground in any of those locations.
US will not have ‘troops on the ground in Gaza or Israel,’ says @VP.

The vice president said:
We do not plan to put troops on the ground. What we already have is central command; we already have people in this part of the world. They will monitor the terms of the ceasefire; they will monitor to ensure that humanitarian aid flows; they actually confirmed yesterday that Israel had withdrawn from the agreed line, which of course is the first condition. The second condition, for the second term, is the release of the hostages. So we have people in this region of the world who are going to monitor parts of this peace proposal, but the president has no plans to deploy troops on the ground in Israel.
Kristen Welker asks:
And Gaza? Will US troops ever be sent to Gaza? Just yes or no.
Vice President Vance:
That’s what I mean, Kristen. He has no plans to deploy troops on the ground in Gaza or Israel. We’re going to have Central Command troops already on site to monitor this peace proposal. In fact, and this is one of the great successes of the president’s diplomacy, from Indonesia to the Arab Gulf states, a number of Muslim-majority countries have proposed stepping up their efforts and asking them to deploy troops on the ground to secure Gaza. There will be no need for American troops to be in Gaza.
Note the qualifier: the president is not planning have boots on the ground. This seems like a situation that could change at any moment. But for now, we’ll take this as good news.

Note that Central Command (CENTCOM) is headquartered at MacDill Air Force Base in Florida, but there are forces in the Middle East, including elements of the US Army’s Central Joint Task Force, Land Component Command, which maintains forces in Jordan and Kuwait. There are also naval forces under the U.S. Fifth Fleet in Bahrain, as well as other subordinate forces in the region.
This represents enough forces to oversee this peace agreement, for as long as it lasts. There is no reason, at this time, to send American troops to Gaza or Israel. Let’s hope things stay that way.
