NOAA delays the cutoff of key satellite data for hurricane forecasting

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says that it delays the planned threshold of satellite data which help the forecasters to follow the hurricanes by one month. The announcement on Monday comes after meteorologists and scientists warned against serious consequences if the officials had followed the key data plan on June 30 in the Hurricane season this year. The data is collected by three meteorological satellites that the agency manages jointly with the Ministry of Defense. Officials said data should initially be cut on June 30 due to a risk of cybersecurity.
