Still holding onto a Monterey Mac? Here’s reason 151 to upgrade ASAP

If you’re using a Mac that boots to Monterey, it’s been time to upgrade. You missed Stage Manager, iPhone Mirroring, Apple Intelligence and the whole Apple Silicon transition, not to mention new hardware features like Thunderbolt 4, ProMotion displays, a year and a half of security updates and the whole Apple Silicon transition.
But if you’ve been waiting, here’s one more reason to finally upgrade: Chrome’s next update, version 151, will no longer support macOS Monterey. According to the Chrome Platform Status page, Chrome will continue to work on Macs running Monterey, but will display a warning information bar and will no longer receive feature or security updates.
Google tells users that they “need to update their computer to a supported version of macOS” if they want to receive future updates. For new Chrome installations after 151, macOS 13+ will be required.
In July, Google dropped support for macOS 11 Big Sur with version 138, so support for Ventura may not last much longer. If you’re considering an update, we recommend getting an Apple Silicon Mac that supports macOS Tahoe to ensure you get years of updates and security releases.
