Non-profit group reveals severity of ongoing Salmonella contamination in poultry

The nation’s largest poultry producers saw 100% of their plants receive the USDA’s worst grades for Salmonella contamination in 2023 and 2024, but the federal agency does not have a mechanism to close or discipline these plants.
These astonishing statistics are included in a new report from Farm Forward, a nonprofit group that supports interdisciplinary research and undergraduate teaching on the cultural significance of animals and animal agriculture.
