Nothing Headphone (1) reviews: Find out what critics are saying

What if you could get a very good pair of over-earners who had not cost more than $ 400?

This is the question that nothing, a technological startup based in the United Kingdom, tries to answer with the new helmet helmet (1), which has just been unveiled this week. A bunch of technological publications were able to try the new headphones before their revelation and their launch, which means that there are now a good number of criticisms available for those interested in obtaining this pair of Over-Ear cans at $ 299.

What did the criticisms say about these new headphones? To start, many agree that they are a great value at $ 299. The closest points of comparison in terms of features and audio quality are elements such as the Sony Wh-1000XM6 Sony headphones and the Apple AirPods Max, which are both selling more than $ 400. From this point of view, nothing is already an advantage.

But what about everything else?

The design

To start, these headphones have a kind of funky design that could deactivate some customers, but could appeal to others. They have large rectangular cases for earrings, and they do not come in two colors: white and black. Ben Schoon summed it up well in the 9to5google review:

“The design of nothing here is unique, to say the least. The partially square and partially rounded design gives off the vibrations of cassette, which I like rather,” wrote Schoon.

About all the other reviews that I read aligned on this point of view. Whether you are personally in design or not, nothing deserves a credit for trying something.

Mashable lighting speed

Matt Bolton, meanwhile, made sure to underline in the Techradar exam that the headphones are comfortable for long sessions, whatever their appearance.

“This adjustment will also be a small division – some people really prefer a lighter helmet that does not need to grasp as much – but I found them more comfortable than the Max AirPods, well to wear for a good period,” wrote Bolton.

The sound

This is the delicate part. Nothing else, no design, comfort or active cancellation characteristics, counts more than sound quality with regard to headphones. Unfortunately, it is fairly widely agreed in most of the criticisms that I have read that this is an area where the price difference between the helmet (1) and its closest competition manifests.

This does not mean that the sound is badHowever. In the James Pero review for Gizmodo, he praised the quality of the cancellation of noise and audio output in general. It may not be entirely at AirPods Max level, but there is a price difference of $ 250 between the two, so it’s probably to be expected.

“I always think that Apple Max’s AirPods have a slight advantage in the sound department – the middle of the highs just have a little more texture and room, which makes the voices more organic and clear,” wrote Pero. “That being said, nothing is up to a competitor who charges a very heavy bonus.”

Bolton, on the other hand, was more critical in his review for Techradar.

“Audio is set by the large brand Hi-Fi Kef, and is reasonably refined, well balanced and largely pleasant,” wrote Bolton. “But he also feels compressed, and does not have the opening and the vast sound to which I used to test the competition at this price.”

Battery life

For $ 300, you expect good battery life from a pair of headphones. It looks like nothing delivered in this department. Schoon declared in his review 9TO5GOOGLE that the batteries had lasted 35 hours with old on and 80 without him. My God is damn good.

Based on these criticisms, it seems that the first earphones in the ear are not solid, at worst. You may have to face a slightly worse audio quality than some of the most expensive models, and you may not like design, but they seem to be good value where it counts.
