A now-infamous bear that made headlines after occupying the crawl space of an Altadena home for months has taken up residence under two other homes in the area.

The bear, known as Yellow 2120, made its way into the homeowner’s crawl space under his kitchen around Thanksgiving and has remained there ever since.

An Altadena man was in for a big surprise when he discovered a 500-pound bear had turned the narrow crawl space under his house into a den for the winter.

Last week, the BEAR League of Lake Tahoe visited the area to help Altadena’s homeowner remove the bear using paintballs to scare it away from the neighborhood’s crawl space along Altadena Drive, below the San Gabriel Mountains. They then placed an electrified doormat to block the entrance.

Before the BEAR League intervened, crews from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) made several attempts to remove the bear, but the animal kept returning.

On Tuesday, the nonprofit organization said the bear entered the crawl space of another Altadena’s house after being evicted. He stayed there for a day before moving to a third House.

The BEAR League also helped the third family, placing the electric mats to scare the 550-pound black bear out of the area.

Yellow 21201 ultimately left after three days and did not return, according to the nonprofit.
