Now We’ve Got Dem Sen. Ruben Gallego Trying to Threaten Military Members If They Investigate Mark Kelly – RedState

Sen. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) is furious to learn that his colleague, Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ), is under investigation by the War Department for participating in a video urging service members to defy orders from their superiors.

So much so that he appears to threaten anyone who participates in this investigation.

A War Department statement released Monday said Kelly had been charged with “serious allegations of misconduct” and that further action against him was being considered, including a possible court-martial or other “administrative action.”

Gallego, in an interview with CNN, warned the military that once President Trump leaves office, “there will be consequences” if he participates in any military proceedings related to the investigation.

“Donald Trump will disappear in a few years,” he said. “And if you are part of the military that attacks sitting senators, sitting members of Congress, and participates in the militarization of government, there will undoubtedly be consequences.”

Gallego went even further, suggesting that the military should look over its shoulders once the commander in chief leaves office.

“I think there will be a lot of officers who are part of this potential tribunal, if they want to call it that, they will be looking over their shoulders,” he said. “Because they know Donald Trump will be gone and they won’t have that protection.”

Gallego, almost following the video manual verbatim, said that the military must of course respect the Constitution. After making several threats – “consequences”, “looking over their shoulders”, “won’t get this protection” – anyway. Just follow the law *wink, wink*, which we interpret for you in our comments, and you’ll be fine.

“They’re going to have to do the safest thing possible, which is follow the Constitution of the United States, and everything will be fine,” he suggested.

There is little ambiguity here. Gallego threatens investigators with retaliation if they “go after” Kelly and impose sanctions. This intentionally taints the investigation.

They should be free to investigate whether or not Senator Kelly violated the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) without fear of partisan sanctions for simply doing their job.

Ruben, even without threatening the military, was clearly disturbed about the Kelly investigation, based on other comments today.

“F*** you and your investigation,” he wrote on X.

Gallego followed up with a crude video in which he displayed a temperament unbecoming of Congress.

“It’s really crazy. We should all point out how crazy it is,” he said, perhaps looking in a mirror. “And, you know, these guys are trying to say that they’re not acting like fascists, that they’re not trying to give this president as much power as a king, so they should stop acting like that.”

“Secretary Hegseth, all these guys, go fuck yourselves,” Gallego said. “You won’t be able to scare us.”

Hegseth may want to take a closer look at Gallego, a former Marine, the same way they investigate Kelly.
