Amazon to Increase the Price of Ad-Free Prime Video Streaming

Amazon announced Prime Video Ultra on Friday, a subscription that replaces its existing offer without advertising in the United States, starting April 10. The subscription costs $5 per month and removes ads for customers with the default ad-supported version of Prime Video through a standalone subscription or Prime subscription.
Existing ad-free customers who pay extra $3 a month to stream ad-free will become Ultra subscribers and pay $2 more in April but get “advanced viewing features,” according to an email from Amazon obtained by CNET. These additional features include:
- 4K UHD video
- 100 downloads (instead of 25)
- Five simultaneous streams (instead of three)
The default version of Prime Video will offer 50 downloads and four simultaneous streams, according to a Amazon blog post. A standalone Prime Video subscription costs $9 per month, and a Prime subscription that includes a Prime Video benefit costs $15 per month or $139 per year. If you get Prime Video through a Prime annual subscription, you can choose to sign up for a Prime Video Ultra annual plan for $46.
Prime Video Ultra subscribers may still see ads on TV and live events, as well as other ad-supported content and add-on subscriptions, Amazon wrote. Learn more about the Main video streaming service and the benefits you get with a Prime subscription.
