NYC’s Democrat Socialist Mayor Gets It As Wrong As Possible on U.S.-Israel Strikes on Iran – RedState

In the early hours of Saturday morning, just minutes after President Donald Trump’s deadline for the Iranian regime to agree to abandon its decades-long nuclear enrichment ambitions, it happened. The United States and Israel have launched devastating airstrikes against Iran, as reported by RedState. The president announced Operation “Epic Fury” with a video statement just after midnight ET.

New York’s Democratic Socialist Mayor Zohran Mamdani spoke about the joint operation with Iran at an event on Saturday:

“Today’s military strikes by the United States and Israel mark a catastrophic escalation in an illegal act of aggressive war,” Mamdani said Saturday at an unrelated event in Brooklyn. “Bombing cities, killing civilians, opening a new theater of war – Americans don’t want that. Americans don’t want another war to achieve regime change. We want an answer to the affordability crisis. We want peace.”

The story linked above adds some details about how New York law enforcement is stepping up to keep the city safe after the attack, according to Politico:

Mamdani’s NYPD reacted ahead of time to the dramatic development, issuing a statement early Saturday morning saying the department was “strengthening patrols in sensitive locations throughout the city, including diplomatic, cultural, religious and other sites” in light of the U.S. military operation.

“We are increasing agency coordination as well as patrols in sensitive locations as a precaution,” he said Saturday afternoon.

How does Mayor Mamdani’s speech compare to that of other left-wing parties? Earlier Saturday, we began hearing responses, with immediate reactions from the Democratic Party. Some are more reasonable (surprisingly) than others, as readers have observed over the years on scattered topics and reporting. Palestinian Authority Senator John Fetterman was in this camp, as noted by Joe Cunningham. The majority were cowardly and kept silent.

Well, with a new message

His message continued:

They don’t want another war to achieve regime change. They want relief from the affordability crisis. They want peace.

I am working to ensure the safety of every New Yorker. I have been in contact with our police commissioner and emergency management officials. We are taking proactive measures, including increasing coordination between agencies and increasing patrols in sensitive locations out of an abundance of caution.

Additionally, I want to speak directly to Iranian New Yorkers: you are part of the social fabric of this city – you are our neighbors, small business owners, students, artists, workers, and community leaders. You will be safe here.

What can you say about what will likely be considered one of the worst reads of this historical moment?

In the last few minutes, RedState Managing Ed. Jennifer Van Laar wrote in a news article that Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, is confirmed dead.

This is of course a developing story and we will continue to bring you updates as more information becomes available.
