NYPD, sheriff seize 500 pounds of ‘P.U.’ pot, snuff out weed warehouse

A “developed” cannabis trafficking company operating from a Brooklyn warehouse that provided multiple illegal smoke shops in the city was closed, with two people arrested, the authorities announced on Friday.
The company was brought under the name of PU – for its powerfully spicy pot – which was stamped on the packaging of several of its products. If the operators tried to keep a low profile, the overwhelming smell of their product did not help.
“At least, they understood correctly, and that was the name of their location,” said deputy mayor of public security Kaz Daughtry at a press conference outside the warehouse, at 209 Highland places in East New York, which was the central center of the operation. “Their name is able to be the name of this organization, this warehouse behind me, and it is because you can feel the marijuana of the block.”
Authorities have entered around 500 pounds of illegal cannabis products in the bust, said Daughtry.
Two smoke shops – at 2347 Second Ave. at East Harlem and 1585 Pitkin Ave. In Brownsville, Brooklyn – which were provided by the warehouse were also closed following the investigation.
The weed warehouse is the last victim of the Creal Operation, a joint effort between the NYPD and the Sheriff’s Department of the City repressing the marijuana stores without license launched by the Mayor Adams in May 2024.
To date, the working group has closed more than 1,500 illegal stores, entered more than $ 100 million in goods and issued violations totaling more than $ 200 million fines, according to Daughtry.
“It is not enough to close these illegal smoke stores,” said the deputy mayor. “We are also going after suppliers, like this behind me, to cut the pipeline which feeds the illegal and unregulated cannabis market.”
“These places sell unregulated and unregulated products that can make people sick or, even worse, kill them,” he continued. “Some target children with flavored vapes and packaged products like candies and cereals. And many of them are magnets for violence, especially when they move large amounts of money. ”
The Ministry of Buildings ordered that the warehouse is completely released. Inside, the space was divided into several different rooms by illegal partitions, each room being set up for various activities related to the company.
“This is an elaborate configuration, distribution packaging,” said New York Anthony Miranda’s sheriff during the briefing. “They received expeditions, they packed, then they distributed there.”
