A man accused of stabbing 11 people at a Walmart is in Michigan authorities’ custody : NPR

Traverse City, Michigan – Eleven people were stabbed in a Walmart at Cross -City on Saturday – with six in critical condition – in what a sheriff of Michigan said seemed to be a random act. A suspect was in detention, the authorities said.
Around 4:45 p.m., a 42 -year -old man entered the store and used a folding knife to stab 11 people, said the Sheriff’s office of the County Grand Traverse in a press release on social networks. An assistant to a sheriff arrived in a few minutes and arrested the man, and the people of the store also helped to apprehend the suspect and treat the victims, said the sheriff’s office.
The ages of the victims were not immediately released.
“Eleven is 11 years old, but thank God, it was no more,” said the sheriff Michael Shea.
Emergency vehicles and the first uniform stakeholders gathered in the shopping center car park which houses several other retail stores. The authorities have also been seen questioning employees, always wearing vests in blue uniform and names of names, nearby, because the answer has given way to an investigation.
Tiffany Defell, 36, who lives in honor, about 25 miles (40 kilometers) of City Traverse, said that she was in the parking lot of the store when she saw the chaos burst around her.

“It was really frightening. Me and my Flippais sister,” she said. “This is something you see out of the film. This is not what you are waiting to see where you live.”
Munson Healthcare said through social media that 11 people were treated in the largest hospital in the Northern Michigan region. Spokesperson Megan Brown said they were all victims of beading. Six people were critical and five were in serious condition on Saturday evening, she said.
Shea said the weapon involved seemed to be a folding style knife. Shea said the suspect is a Michigan resident, but refused to share other details. Michigan state police said the suspect earlier that the suspect was under the care of the authorities.
Governor Gretchen Whitmer said: “Our thoughts concern the victims and the community in shock from this brutal act of violence.”
Walmart said in a statement that he would continue to work closely with the police in the investigation.
“Violence like this is unacceptable. Our thoughts are with those who have been injured and we are grateful for the rapid action of the first stakeholders,” the statement said.
The deputy director of the FBI, Dan Bongino, said in an article on social networks that office officials responded to “provide necessary support”.
Crossing City is a popular vacation spot on the Côte du Lac Michigan. It is known for its cherry festival, its vineyards and its headlights and is around 25 miles (40 kilometers) east of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.
