Trump ally Charlie Kirk shot during event at Utah Valley University | Utah
Charlie Kirk, the powerful right -wing activist, Trump Ally and Executive Director of Turning Point USA (Tpusa), was shot down on Wednesday when he organized an event in Utah.
In video articles circulating on social networks, Kirk can be seen hit by speaking and seated in a tent in the courtyard of the University of Utah Valley. Kirk was there as part of the American Comeback Tour, which is led by the Tpusa chapter in Utah Valley. There are also video sequences of students on the campus which move away from the sound of gunshots.
“Today, at around 12.10, the shot was fired on the guest speaker, Charlie Kirk,” the university said in a statement. “He was struck and removed from the location by his safety. Campus police investigate, a suspect is in detention. “
The Tpusa press team confirmed to Fox News that Kirk had been shot, but that his condition was unknown.
Utah governor Spencer Cox posted on X that he “would continue to share updates” and that “those responsible will be held entirely responsible”.
“Violence has no place in our public life. Americans of each political persuasion must unite to condemn this act. Our prayers are with Charlie, his family and all the people affected, ”he wrote.
Mike Lee, a Utah senator, published on X shortly after the reports interrupted that Kirk had been shot to say that he “followed the situation of Utah Valley University. Please join me to pray for Charlie Kirk and the students gathered there. ”
Ashley Moody, a Florida senator, also posted on X to say that “the office monitors the situation at the University of Utah Valley. I pray for Charlie Kirk, the students and this nation. ”
Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social: “We must all pray for Charlie Kirk, who was shot. A big guy from top to bottom. May God bless him!”
JD Vance, the vice-president, tweeted: “Say a prayer for Charlie Kirk, a really good guy and a young father.” These feelings were taken up by the Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth: “Prayers for Charlie Kirk. An incredible Christian, American and human being. May the healing hand of Jesus Christ be on him. ”
FBI director Kash Patel said that the FBI “closely monitored the tragic shooting reports involving Charlie Kirk at the University of Utah Valley … The agents will be quickly on the scene and that the FBI fully supports the response and the current investigation.”
Senator Markwayne Mullin of Oklahoma wrote in a post he prayed for Kirk and said that Kirk’s wife and their two children were all present at the UVU event.
The shooting was quickly sentenced by California Governor, Gavin Newsom, who said that “Charlie Kirk’s attack” was “disgusting, vile and reprehensible. In the United States of America, we must reject political violence in each form. ”
Shortly before the gunshots were released, Kirk tweeted: “We. So. Return. Utah Valley University is excited and ready for the first stop of the American return tour.”
