Oh, Now They Want to Help — UK to Allow US B-2 Stealth Bombers to Operate From British Airbases – RedState

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has had a change of heart, and after initially denying the United States’ use of its military airfields in Operation Epic Fury, he has now partially given the green light to the idea, and our B-2 stealth bombers are expected to land on RAF bases in Britain and on the island of Cyprus in just a few days.

Cyprus is a British Overseas Territory administered by the United Kingdom and is home to RAF Akrotiri, a key forward operating base for the British.

The B-2s arrive:

US B-2 stealth bombers are expected to land on British military bases “within days” to join the campaign against Iran, The telegraph reported.

Citing unnamed senior Western officials, the newspaper said Diego Garcia and Fairford were preparing for their arrival.

The deployment follows a significant policy change by Sir Keir Starmer, who has now allowed US forces to use RAF bases in Cyprus.

In a late statement on Sunday evening, the Prime Minister insisted the authorization was for a “limited specific defensive objective” of protecting the UK and US allies in the Middle East as Iran continues to rampage.

However, within hours of this announcement, reports emerged of a major explosion at RAF Akrotiri, one of the British bases in Cyprus from which US aircraft will be allowed to operate.

Many European leaders have distanced themselves from US actions and simply prefer to let us do the work while they stay on the sidelines.

Trump was unimpressed with Starmer’s position and declared in the Oval Office on Tuesday: “We’re not dealing with Winston Churchill.”

UK balks at strikes on Iran and Trump retaliates against Diego Garcia

B-2 stealth bombers were the centerpiece of June 2025’s Operation Midnight Hammer, which vaporized Iran’s nuclear research facilities. Among other things, they avoid detection by forward air defenses and can carry the 30,000-pound GBU-57 bunkerbuster. They have already been used in Epic Fury, to devastating effect.

For anyone remaining in power in Iran, this cannot be good news.

This is a real change of heart from the British government, which previously refused to let our military aircraft operate from its installations:

The United States was authorized to use British bases for limited strikes against Iran’s ballistic capabilities on February 29. [sic] after Prime Minister Keir Starmer approved the plan, and while British Defense Secretary John Healey said Britain had “stepped up its efforts alongside the Americans”.

Starmer said the permission was granted to protect allies the UK and US as the conflict escalated. He had previously said he would not allow US forces to use British bases for offensive operations in the region.

Tensions have since been heightened in the UK by security incidents in Cyprus. RAF Akrotiri, a key British military base on the island, was struck by a suspected drone on March 2, causing minor damage.

They’re a little late to the party, but at least they’re finally here.

Editor’s note: For decades, former presidents did nothing but talk. Now, Donald Trump eliminates the Iranian threat once and for all.
