These prebuilt PCs are about to cost more due to rising RAM prices
The skyrocketing price of RAM is impacting custom PC makers, including CyberPowerPC and Maingear. On Wednesday, CyberPowerPC announced plans to adjust prices on all of its systems on December 7, as previously reported by PCMag.
“Recently, global memory (RAM) prices have increased by 500% and SSD prices by 100%,” CyberPowerPC said in a statement published on X. “This has had a direct impact on the cost of building gaming PCs since 10/1/25. »
Meanwhile, Maingear tries to avoid price increases for as long as possible. “I anticipate that prices will continue to increase and that we will eventually need to increase our delivery times as inventory and allocations become limited, but we are in constant communication with our suppliers and will delay these increases as long as possible,” said Wallace Santos, CEO of Maingear. The price of RAM has fluctuated significantly over the past month as AI companies purchase more RAM and data storage for their sprawling data centers. Some brick-and-mortar stores have resorted to pricing components at market prices, much like how seafood restaurants sell the catch of the day. CyberPowerPC predicts that “price increases will be temporary” and will decrease “when market conditions change.”
Maingear CEO Wallace Santos tells Wccftech that customers may want to start “shop now” if they need a memory or storage upgrade. While this may seem like another way to boost Black Friday sales, Santos genuinely seems to be warning of increased shortages and claims that the PCs it’s selling this Black Friday have been “sheltered from these price increases.”
Skytech Gaming, another company that specializes in prebuilt and custom PCs, said in a Facebook post that it “was also affected by the RAM price increase,” although it is not yet clear whether these changes impact the prices listed on its website.
