One Month on, Friends Share Remembrances of Charlie Kirk–and WH Will Honor Him on a Truly Special Day – RedState

It’s been a month since Charlie Kirk, co-founder and CEO of Turning Point USA, was fatally shot in the neck after an assassin shot him during a free speech event at Utah Valley University in Provo, UT, on September 10.
It is now known when he will officially receive the county’s highest civilian honor posthumously in a ceremony at the White House. We’ll talk about that in a minute.
My colleague Streiff shared a “clarification” from Secretary of War Pete Hegseth earlier Saturday on remarks he made at a press event this week with a senior Qatari official on joint military activities between the two nations.

In a less formal conversation, however, Hegseth, a close friend of Kirk’s, was asked to share his memories of the man, marking the 30th anniversary Friday, in a video shared by the War Department’s Rapid Response X account.

“Sometimes it doesn’t seem real,” Hegseth said. “You look at videos, things that are still being released, and you say, ‘Oh, man, I can’t believe this. But isn’t Charlie the perfect example of someone who took his faith into the public square? And did it boldly, without apology, in a way that met people where they are?’
Later in the clip, he says Kirk “set that example. He did it every day. We miss him more every day, almost, when we see the void of his incredible talents, but may we live worthy of his martyrdom.” It’s reminiscent — 10 days after the assassination — of how the president delivered the eulogy at the massive TPUSA-hosted memorial event at a packed football arena in Glendale, Arizona, as RedState wrote.
Readers may recall that the day after Kirk’s death on September 11, President Trump said during a speech at the Pentagon that he had decided to posthumously award him the Presidential Medal of Freedom. In case you missed it, here’s the video:
President Trump’s decision to award Charlie Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom is a bold tribute to a fearless patriot. Charlie fought for life, faith and freedom with unparalleled passion. This honor reflects the heart of our movement. Let’s keep his legacy alive!… pic.twitter.com/OuuYxj7sJj

The exact opposite of a tribute recently appeared in the pages of a major Salt Lake City newspaper, in the form of a political cartoon that appears to depict a made-up “wanted” poster featuring Republican politicians bearing the same wound as Kirk. On Friday, Turning Point USA spokesperson Andrew Kolvet alerted people to the Tribune’s shameful decision:
Less than a month after Charlie’s assassination in Utah, the Salt Lake Tribune published this cartoon entitled “The Hole-in-the-Head Gang” depicting a wanted poster with state elected officials (with red around their necks?!).
Absolutely disgusting. pic.twitter.com/Sq4Y63gW1A

Fortunately, this stands in stark contrast to the respectful honor he receives elsewhere.
Several media outlets report that Pres. Trump announced Friday that the date Kirk will be honored at the WH is almost here:
President Donald Trump said he will posthumously award slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk the Medal of Freedom during a celebration at the White House next week.
Trump said he would rush back to the United States from Israel and Egypt, after a trip tied to a ceasefire and hostage release deal he helped broker in Gaza, for the ceremony honoring Kirk.
“We’re going to have a big party at the White House,” Trump said in his remarks in the Oval Office. “A friend of mine, a friend of all of us,” Trump said of Kirk on October 10.
Trump added that Erika, Kirk’s widow, would be in the East Room next Tuesday evening.
TPUSA’s Tyler Bowyer confirmed the news, writing on X about a candid snapshot of Pres. Trump, himself and Kirk that it will fall on a very special day: Charlie Kirk’s 32nd birthday:
Trump will rightfully award Charlie the Presidential Medal of Freedom on Tuesday at the White House on his 32nd birthday.
God bless Charlie, Erika and President Trump. pic.twitter.com/ArEYyUFEFI

God bless Charlie, Erika and President Trump.
Something tells me this will be just the beginning of the honors Kirk will receive over time, and more and more people will learn about his legacy for freedom and all the rights God has given us as Americans.
