One-stop family hubs to be opened in all English council areas | Children

Family hubs with one -stop shop will be deployed through England to give parents advice and support, the government announced. The centers will offer help from breastfeeding and housing problems, as well as to support children’s development and language, the ministers said.

The 500 million pounds Sterling project will open 1,000 centers from April 2026, which means that each advice in England will have a family center by 2028. It will be based on the existing Family Hubs and Start for Life program to provide a single access point to services in health, education and well-being.

Anna Fechtwang, Director General of the National Children’s Bureau: “The Prime Minister’s change plan establishes her ambition to improve results in early childhood. Now the government has put its money where its mouth is and determined to deploy the best family hubs in all local authorities.

“With indications of a boost for babies and young children already included in the 10 -year health plan, I am delighted to see children and families having a clear priority in public spending decisions.”

The conservative secretary of ghost education, Laura Trott, criticized the announcement and said that she “brings little clarity on what is really new and what simply renamed existing services”.

She added: “This lack of clarity is part of a wider scheme. It is a government defined by broken promises and endless half-tours.”
