Shas and United Torah Judaïsm said in a statement that they were ready to meet to discuss a hostage agreement.

The leaders of the opposition parties announced on Wednesday in a joint declaration that they had made an official request to convene the Knesset Plenum despite the summer recess, in order to discuss the “promotion of an law on warships, and to return the hostages and to advance an immediate agreement to end the fights in Gaza”.

According to the Knesset protocol, a minimum of 25 MKS can file a request for a plenum session during recess and can only propose two elements to place on the agenda of the plenum.

The elements in question are declaratory resolutions which would likely include a vote, but the vote would not lead to any practical step.

The current Knesset corners officially started on Monday July 28 and will last until October 19.

With the exception of the last two weeks of August, the Knesset committees continue to meet meetings, although with a low frequency. The plenum only wakes up if the aforementioned 25 MK or the government are asking for it.
