Orioles owner David Rubenstein issues statement about meeting with Jeffrey Epstein

The owner of the Baltimore Orioles is among the names found in the Epstein files released by the Justice Department.
The emails show that David Rubenstein – who is also chairman of the Carlyle Group – met with Jeffrey Epstein in November 2012 and was potentially considering another meeting, but it appears a second meeting did not take place.

A spokesperson for Rubenstein released the following statement to WBAL News Radio in Baltimore:
“Mr. Rubenstein had a 20-minute meeting in Carlyle’s office, at the request of people interested in Mr. Rubenstein’s participation in philanthropic efforts, none of which Mr. Rubenstein pursued,” the spokesperson said.
“A brief email thanking Mr. Rubenstein for the meeting also suggested a meeting between Mr. Rubenstein and Ehud Barak, which never took place. There is nothing more to Mr. Rubenstein’s involvement than this innocuous interaction.”
According to Front Office Sports, Rubenstein’s meeting with Epstein took place four years after Epstein pleaded guilty to soliciting prostitution from a minor and registered as a sex offender.
