Bluesky is testing a ‘dislike’ button to fix the Discover tab

You may soon be able to review Bluesky. The Twitter scammer recently announced that it would test a “Dislike” button, intended to improve the personalization of users’ feeds.

The idea is that negative posts that you don’t like will directly affect the posts you see in your feed.

Bluesky wrote about the testing feature in a blog post:

“Soon, we’ll start testing a Dislike option as a new feedback signal to improve personalization in Discover and other feeds. Dislikes help the system understand what types of posts you would prefer to see less of. They can also slightly shed light on the ranking of replies, reducing the visibility of low-quality replies. Dislikes are private and the signal is not global – it primarily affects your own experience and, to some extent, that of others in your neighborhood social.

So, to be clear, dislikes will not be visible to the public, meaning people won’t see what you don’t like or the number of dislikes for a given post.

While this doesn’t represent a radical change in how Bluesky works, it could lead to improved daily scrolling. Bluesky’s “Discover” tab is largely ignored – or worse, hated – by its power users, because it’s largely filled with cheesy posts that rack up likes. As writer Mike Pearl noted on Gizmodo, if the Dislike button were to In fact By filtering out posts and topics you don’t like, it could turn the Discover tab into something “useful and maybe even dangerously addictive.”

The internet is full of bad posts, but it looks like you’ll be able to do something on Bluesky soon.
