The American transport secretary and the acting administrator of NASA, Sean Duffy, joined President Donald J. Trump at the White House on Wednesday for the historic signing of the executive decree (EO), “allowing competition in the commercial space industry”.

“People think that the Ministry of Transport (DOT) is only plans, trains and cars – but we have an essential role in unlocking the final border. By reducing administrative formalities linking high -level space construction, we can denounce the next wave of innovation. At launch, ”said Duffy. “Thanks to the management of President Trump, we allow the competitiveness and superiority of American space for the decades to come. I can’t wait to take advantage of my double role in Dot and Nasa to make this dream a reality.”

The act will allow a competitive launch market and considerably increase the launch rate of the commercial space and new space activities by 2030.

“The FAA strongly supports President Trump’s executive order to ensure that the United States leads the growing space economy and continue to lead the world in space transport and innovation,” said FAA administrator Bryan Bedford. “This order securely removes regulatory obstacles so that US companies can dominate commercial space activities.”

Protruding facts of the executive order:
“Habilitant competition in the commercial space industry” EO will help:

  • Rationalize commercial licenses and license approvals for operators based in the United States. This includes the elimination of regulatory obstacles and accelerate environmental examinations for trade launches and rejection.
  • Cut unnecessary administrative formalities to facilitate the construction of new spaces in the United States where more commercial space operations will be launched. To ensure that this new generation space infrastructure, the double examination process will be eliminated and environmental examinations will be accelerated.
  • Promote new spatial activities such as manufacturing in space and orbital supply through a rationalized frame. The shipment and rationalization of the authorization for this new spatial activity are essential for the competitiveness and superiority of American space.
  • Establish a new position in the Office of the Secretary with the responsibility of advising the Secretary of Transport on the promotion of innovation and deregulation in the commercial space industry.
  • The FAA associate administrator for commercial space transport will also be a senior employee of senior executives, and the space trade office will be high in the office of the Secretary of Commerce.
  • Imatigne the risk that the United States will lose its competitive advantage in the commercial space industry by focusing on the regulatory obstacles that prevent rapid innovation and expansion.
